A recent review has found that the quality of care in the treatment for obesity is severely lacking, with surgery often used as a quick fix option without due consideration of the risks.

"The report was created by The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death, and looked in to the cases of 300 patients who were treated in NHS centres around the UK.
It found that patients were often under-informed about treatment options, including surgery. A startling 29% of patients did not receive counselling before being recommended for surgery.
................
The report also highlighted a deficiency in the quality of aftercare for patients that have undergone obesity, with over 30% found to be below standard."
