UT President Bill Powers Refuses Ultimatum to Resign

"Powers is president of UT-Austin, the system's flagship campus. According to the San Antonio Express-News, he's developed a tense relationship with Cigarroa and the regents.
One regent, Wallace Hall, accused Powers of admitting friends and family of legislators who weren't qualified for the school. The university plans to investigate.
Hall himself stands accused of abusing the powers of his office, using excessive records requests and possibly breaking student privacy laws in his efforts to oust Powers. He has denied those charges.
In May, state lawmakers agreed grounds exist to impeach Hall. If he is impeached, Hall would be the first official appointed by the governor to be removed from office in state history."
