"Compared with boys without overweight in childhood or young adulthood, boys who developed overweight during puberty (HR = 2.39; 95% CI, 1.86-3.09) and boys who had overweight throughout childhood and puberty (HR = 1.85; 95% CI, 1.28-2.67) had an increased risk for CV death in adulthood, according to researchers.
When including a quadratic term for BMI change during puberty in models, the association between BMI change during puberty and CV mortality in adulthood was nonlinear, according to researchers (P < .0001), and the association persisted after adjustment for childhood BMI (P = .0002)."
