Adam B at the Daily Kos on today's three SCOTUS decisions

http://adam-b.dailykos.com/

1-

"In an unsurprising (but no less disappointing) 5-4 decision today, the Supreme Court of the United States summarily reversed the Montana Supreme Court decision, which found that circumstances unique to the Treasure State rendered Citizens United inapplicable in Big Sky Country."

2-

"In a 5-3 decision this morning, the Supreme Court of the United States largely rebuffed Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's efforts to craft her own immigration policy, declaring unconstitutional multiple key provisions of SB 1070 as violating federal supremacy in this arena. This was a facialchallenge to the law -- as in, "there's no possible way you can apply this constitutionally" -- and as such the Court did leave standing the "show your papers" provision for the time being, albeit with strong suggestions as to how it must be applied to keep it constitutional."

3-

"In a landmark decision today, the Supreme Court of the United States has declared it unconstitutional under the Cruel and Unusual Punishments Clause to have mandatory life-without-parole punishments for defendants who were minors at the time of the offense. The decision flows naturally from its decision two years ago that minors could not be incarcerated for life for non-homicide offenses, and continues this Court's active jurisprudence in employing the Eighth Amendment against the harshest of penalties."
