A Health Care Reform Law For The FDA
Matthew Herper, Forbes Staff
"The Food and Drug Administration does the job of making sure medicines are safe and effective with limited resources. Consumers and drug companies alike should cheer a new bill, likely to be soon signed into law, that gives the agency more funding in the form of fees from the companies it regulates."
"The bill will allow FDA to collect $6.4 billion in fees from companies over the five year period starting in 2013. About $1.8 billion of those will be new fees, including those from generic drug makers."
