Union asks students to honour picket lines; football games may be affected

"Students on Thursday were faced with the dilemma of whether to cross picket lines to attend classes, after some unionized workers went on strike at five of the province's major universities.

CUPE 116 president Colleen Garbe said students are being asked not to cross the picket lines.

The job action follows two years of negotiations without a contract. Workers want job security, inflation protection and a "fair and reasonable" wage increase."
