Twinkies are toxic to your body; here’s why
"Mayor Emanuel is currently doubling down at the Chicago Public Schools to remove junk food from vending machines as an initiative to get students to eat healthier. According to an article on the Huffington Post, last month, CPS received a $4.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support the launch of “Healthy CPS,” an initiative aimed at tackling obesity rates and tobacco use among CPS students.
This action is not what the far right would like to call the “nanny state” but rather a concern about the health of our fellow citizens. There is one major reason that Hostess is closing: we are changing the way we are looking at food and what it does to our bodies and there is not enough demand to justify the supply. The recent news of unions versus owners is merely a reflection of this lack of demand."
