"Recovering from three and a half years in a Japanese prison camp was not an easy task.  When I was liberated I weighed ninety pounds, but weight was not my main problem.  We had thought that food was all we needed to put us back into perfect health.  Before we left prison camp, after we were liberated, we found  that we could eat very little food.  Doctors told us our stomachs had shrunk over the years, and it would take  time to overcome this problem."
