A major investor in the company that received a controversial $11 million grant from the state’s cancer agency contributed to a foundation that supplemented the salaries of key decision-makers at the agency.According to tax documents, Dallas philanthropist Peter O’Donnell donated a total of $1.6 million to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Foundation in 2009, 2010 and 2011.A principal aim of the foundation is supplementing salaries of the cancer agency’s top staffers, including its former chief scientific officer, Dr. Al Gilman, who resigned in October, as well as its executive director, Bill Gimson.
