CPRIT funding in Gov. Perry's hands
Funding for the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas is now in the hands of Gov. Rick Perry after the Texas Senate unanimously passed the House's version of a bill that would revamp the agency.
The bill, which passed May 24, sets CPRIT's funding for 2014 through 2015 at nearly $600 million, The Texas Tribune reports. In addition, the bill removes the $3 billion agency's governing board, theHouston Chronicle reports.
