Generation expects to redefine aging
"It is my guess that we boomers will redefine the aging process rather than let it redefine us.
In 2011, the first of the baby boom generation reached what used to be known as retirement age of 65. And for the next 18 years, boomers will be turning 65 at a rate of about 8,000 a day. As we boomers grow older, we will likely transform the institutions of aging – just as we have influenced many other aspects of American life, such as music, education, investment trends, medicine, technology and science.
Once we focus on remaining as young in body as we are in heart, we will change what it means to enter our senior years. The time has come to focus on our health because many of us feel too young to retire at 65, but we also know that remaining on the job requires maintaining good health and that being rehired after age 60 can be a challenge."
