"Although the potential effects of radiation in monitoring disease activity in patients with cystic fibrosis may never be completely eliminated, radiation dose can be markedly lowered by manipulating the technical parameters of the examination and by using state-of-the art equipment such that effective dose at CT approaches that of chest radiography; undersampling, as tested by Loeve et al and others is still applicable, but it should be used judiciously based on appropriate data and carefully applied in longitudinal patient evaluation."
