Lessons from the Garden State
By Sen. Jon Kyl"Unsurprisingly, his reforms were unpopular with government workers. When Christie addressed a group of them, boos echoed as he took the stage. The governor ripped up his prepared speech and told them he understood.
“You have every right to be angry because you have been betrayed and you have been lied to,” he said. “Governors of both parties have come in here for the last twenty years and promised you things they knew they couldn’t pay for. And they lied to you to get your vote and you voted for them and now you’re angry. And I don’t blame you.”
“Here’s the one thing I don’t get though. Why are you booing the first guy to come in here and tell you the truth?”"
