The Lancet1 was a strong voice in opposition to the National Health Service (NHS) privatisation agenda within the UK Government's Health and Social Care Bill. We are surprised therefore that Richard Horton (June 9, p 2134)2 fails to see that the attack on the NHS pension scheme is clearly part of the same process to devalue public service and pave the way for further privatisation, instead describing this link as “tortuous”.
