Shares leap into life at 'zombie' life insurer Phoenix

Shares in ‘zombie’ life insurer Phoenix soared after the firm said it is ready to consider snapping up new funds for the first time in two years.

But Phoenix came under fire from financial advisers for handing a bumper 19 per cent pay rise to boss Clive Bannister while millions of savers suffer dismal returns.
