New County Pop Tax Passes; Get Ready To Pay More for Soda
"A beverage is classified as sweetened if it contains either sugar or artificial sweetener, the county says. The tax includes carbonated soft drinks, fruit beverages (except 100 percent fruit juice), sports drinks and energy drinks.
Nonsweetened beverages, such as water, various kinds of milk and baby formula are exempt from the tax, the county says."
