Health-care costs may increase 7% for large employers

Date: Tuesday, August 7, 2012

"Large employers expect their health insurance costs will increase 7 percent next year, Washington Bureau Chief Kent Hoover reports, citing a survey conducted by the National Business Group on Health.
Instead of fixing this cost problem, health-care reform likely will make it worse, according to Helen Darling, president and chief executive of the association. That’s because of the mandated benefits required by the law and its administrative requirements, she says. And leaving to states the decision to define what benefits have to be provided in insurance plans could force some large employers to offer 50 different insurance plans in 50 different states, Darling adds."
