Deliberative clinical ethical judgment: an essential component of contemporary obstetrics.

Abstract

Abstract Obstetricians confront a range of clinical ethical challenges. Obstetricians have the professional responsibility to manage these challenges using deliberative clinical ethical judgment. We define this concept, and on this basis, address the clinical ethical challenges of assisted reproduction, prenatal risk assessment and diagnosis, termination of pregnancy, cesarean delivery, and concern about professional liability.
