Mark Thomas: Health care reform: Round 2
Published: Thursday, August 9, 2012
'In 2006, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate that residents attain either privately- or publicly-financed health insurance, the law commonly referred to as “Romney Care.” Congress followed suit in 2010 with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as “Obama Care.”
After the first 6 years of the Massachusetts experiment with health care reform, the data indicate that the vast majority of state residents indeed have some form of health insurance, but the data also reveal that the cost of health care in Massachusetts has increased at a rate of twice that of the state’s economy over the same period of time.'
