Two lawmakers who filed the 2007 bill that created the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas said Friday they have "deep concerns" over the $11 million grant awarded to a Dallas company and want answers on how the application was approved without a peer review.
State Sen. Jane Nelson and Rep. Jim Keffer are demanding a written explanation on how biomedical company Peloton Therapeutics Inc.'s proposal was OK'd without having the required formal recommendation from peer review committees, KVUE-TV reports via the Associated Press.
