Stop this monthly punishment

December 2, 2012

In Dry July, participants form teams and quit booze in order to raise money for cancer, and feel superior to their friends.
.....................................
But what about the other months? The months whose names are not so convenient for puns, and are thus grimly obliged to plod past, devoid of charitable significance?
.....................................
In Kleptember, participants would be encouraged simply to nick stuff and give it directly to charity. What could be simpler?

Or we could spread our wings and move beyond months altogether.

Perhaps days of the week could be harnessed? On Nunday, women could live lives of blameless chastity and forbearance, and be congratulated once a week for not wrecking the joint.

''Rove Tuesday'' would see Rove McManus and Karl Rove stage a pancake-eating contest for charity; additional hilarity and confusion would ensue upon the announcement of Kim Beazley as a judge.
....................................
There are always more ways to care; let's make the most of them.
