Texas A&M University dean cycling coast-to-coast to support Habitat for Humanity
In two weeks, Bermudez, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University, will compete in what is considered by some to be the world's toughest bike race, the Race Across America (RAAM), in support of the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
"I cycle around here a lot, and I see a lot of very disadvantaged people," Bermudez said. "I think Habitat is a great opportunity for families to work and build their own home and have a stable family life. It's a transformational charity."
Starting in Oceanside, Calif., on June 11 and ending in Annapolis, Md., RAAM covers a 3,000-mile route through 12 states with 170,000 feet of vertical climbing.
